Ginger's (In)Famous White Sangria

Ginger Grauberger · November 13, 2008

I was commissioned (well not literally), but a little bird said that I should post a blog...and here I am. I guess the first thing that popped into my mind was my famous White Sangria...so here goes.

White Sangria: A Divine Drink for All!

I must admit this rainy cold weather makes me feel a little morose at times, but I do enjoy the nostalgia it brings for multi-colored sweaters, wool socks, hot cocoa, and old Gregory Peck films. But with this change of season comes a stark realization that summer is gone; no more grilling or pool parties, and especially no more White Sangria.

I came across a recipe years ago online and though I could not duplicate the exact measurements with 100% accuracy, I've been making it for awhile now and everyone seems to enjoy it, and I mean everyone, especially my old neighbor who requests it everytime upon visiting.

1-  Bottle of Dry White Wine
1 c. sugar
1 qt.  Raspberry Lemonade ( I use the powder mix)
1 c. orange juice
6-limes
3-lemons
2 c. Ginger Ale
Fresh Mint
Fresh Raspberries

Basically combine all the liquid ingredients and the sugar. Squeeze the citris of the limes and lemons. Serve over Ice and top with fresh mint and a couple raspberries. This serves about eight.

I have a testimonial for this sangria. Ginger brought a huge pitcher to an office barbecue this summer, and it was gone within 10 minutes. We drank it all before everyone even got there. It's so good it could possibly be used as currency. I'd do just about anything if someone agreed to pay me in this sangria.

A beer fest is a tremendous way to connect with a community eager to learn, experience aspects of life that exist off the beaten path and find enjoyment in a serving that comes two ounces at a time.”
